About Us

Jim and Chris were married in 1966 and began their ministry together after Jim’s graduation from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in 1969. During Jim’s four years with the Air Force, they were associates in a church in New Mexico, and later ministered in Army and Air Force chapel groups in Germany. Through the years, they have served churches in Arkansas, Tennessee, and Texas. Altogether, they have over 30 years of pastoral ministry experience.

Jim has a bachelor’s degree in Bible from Southwestern Assemblies of God University, a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Middle Tennessee State University, and a master’s degree in Psychology from MTSU. He has taught Psychology, Child Psychology, and Marriage and Family courses on the college level. He has been an ordained minister since 1976, and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.

Chris, the daughter of Assemblies of God ministers F.R. and Ellen McAdams, is well acquainted with all types of church work. Proficient in both piano and organ, she has been involved in music ministry most of her life. She has also served as a teacher and women’s group leader in their pastorates.

One of the turning points of their ministry took place in the mid-1980’s when Chris was stricken with severe clinical depression. Hospitalized several times, she underwent electro-convulsive therapy (ECT) treatments on two different occasions—before finally taking the long road to recovery. Since then, she has had opportunity to minister to others who have also struggled with major depression. Together, the Robinsons have been able to bring both clinical instruction and Biblical encouragement to many individuals and families who have been affected by emotional and mental disorders.

In 2002, Global University asked Jim to bring together his years of pastoral experience and academic background to write a new textbook for Global’s Pastoral Counseling course. Two years later, Jim was asked to join the team at Global as a faculty member, and to write/compile further texts and/or materials so that, eventually, the institution can offer a “minor” in Pastoral Counseling.
Global University is a part of International Ministries of Assemblies of God World Missions (AGWM). As AGWM missionaries, Jim and Chris are supported by contributions from churches and individuals.

They currently live in Nixa, Missouri, a suburb of Springfield. Jim is an associate professor in the undergraduate school of GU, and Chris works part-time at the university. Along with the work at Global, they minister in church services and seminars as opportunity is given.
